Turn neglected spaces into shared green patches.
Patch connects residents, local sponsors, and council-approved frameworks so small overlooked spaces can be cared for by the community. See where patches are already growing and how you can help steward the next one.

Everything needed to start and sustain a community patch. Try it for yourself.
Patch was built for residents, stewards and local businesses who want to care for overlooked public spaces together. Instead of waiting for problems to be fixed, the platform makes stewardship simple, visible and organised.
Now is the time to care for your neighbourhood.
Many small public spaces fall between the cracks of traditional maintenance. With Patch, residents can organise stewardship and start improving those spaces together.
Start with any space
Whether it’s a planter, a verge or a neglected corner, your community can begin caring for it and turn it into something everyone values.
Build a connected network
Steward different types of patches — walls, verges, planters — and gradually create a greener corridor across the neighbourhood.
Coordinate visits easily
Post when you're heading to the patch, invite others to join, and grow your steward team as the community gathers around the space.
Support from local sponsors
Invite nearby businesses to fund improvements or fulfil wishlist items and be recognised for their contribution.
Council-approved and transparent
Every patch operates within a council-approved template, making responsibilities clear and ensuring community stewardship works within agreed guidelines.
Watch the network grow
See new patches appear across the borough and follow the story of neighbourhood spaces being transformed over time.
Communities across the borough are already transforming their neighbourhoods with Patch.
Residents, volunteers and sponsors are working together to care for local spaces and make visible improvements.

How do I know the platform is effective?
Our whole model depends on patches actually improving spaces, so it’s in our interest to make the tools genuinely useful. The results of our steward communities speak for themselves, just see the map.
Isn’t this the council’s job?
Yes, exactly — and they often can’t keep up. Historically community action required direct council coordination. Patch gives residents and councils a shared infrastructure to act together.
But doesn’t the council need to approve everything?
Here’s the thing: the council approves a patch type template once, and then individual patches can be created within that template without requiring per-patch sign-off. That’s the efficiency the model creates.
Do the stewards understand what they’re taking on?
The platform is designed to make responsibilities completely transparent. The council agreement for each patch is shown clearly, the permitted activities are defined, and the complaints route is built in — so everyone knows exactly what they’re signing up for.
Where is Patch based?
We’re based in London, working initially with Tower Hamlets as our founding borough.
Is there any age limit to stewarding on Patch?
For our free plan, participants should be old enough to engage responsibly with public spaces in their area. Our Programme Operator plan is designed for established organisations and programme leads.
How did you get council buy-in?
Honestly we were surprised how smoothly it went, but eventually we found that officers responded most to the template system — it gave them governance oversight without creating per-patch bureaucracy.
How do I report a problem with a patch to the council?
Every public patch page has a clear complaints route linked directly to the relevant council officer. Patch is not responsible for resolving disputes, but we make sure the right people are always reachable.
How do I become a sponsor?
Contact us with some details about your business and the area you operate in to apply for a sponsor account. Once approved, we’ll send you a guide on finding and funding patches that match your local footprint.
